The Special Court of Appeal has postponed its ruling on former general prosecutor Adriatik Llalla to September 22, after the latter appealed the decision of the first instance court.

SPAK had sought a 2-year jail sentence as well as banning Llalla from holding a public post for the next 5 years, a request granted by the First Instance Court.

Lalla’s attorney declared during the trial that the defendant is in hospital and could not attend as he suffers from an incurable disease.

However, the defendant’s request to administer the expert evidence was overturned by the Special Appeal’s Court.

The expert evidence put forward by Lalla’s attorney was over his health conditions, several bank receipts that allegedly justify the birth costs of his son in the United States, as well as the value of his home.

Four months ago, Adriatik Lllalla was declared guilty by the Special Court on charges related to the concealment of wealth. The verdict was later appealed by the former general prosecutor.

Judge Daniela Shirka slapped Llalla with a two-year jail sentence, as well as banning him from holding any public post for five years.

Llalla was also found guilty for not justifying a sum of $7,000, incurred for his son’s birth in the United States.

Four properties on the outskirts of Tirana, and a condo in Tirana and Durres, were also seized and will be transferred to state ownership.
