The deputy editor of Panorama, a local daily paper, said that the two main political parties have very few new names in their list of candidates racing for the district of Tirana.
“In between the two main parties I only see some young people who are in minority. SP’s list for Tirana has only 3 young new candidates, the others are lawmakers that have already served 2-3 terms or held ministerial posts. Also, I see very few youngsters at the DP and they have recycled the same old personalities”, stated Aristir Lumezi.
According to Panorama’s deputy editor, the youngsters stand “at a disadvantage” in confront to the older political figures.
On the other hand, Lumezi also spoke of another “unexpected factor” that might change things up in these elections: The Constitutional Court.
He recalled a request made by Myslim Murrizi, calling for a total open-list system.
“There is a request filed at the Constitutional Court which might overturn everything. A request made by Murrizi for open lists. If accepted, the race will open from the first to the last”, Lumezi said.
