Former police officer Arjan Tase is appearing in court today, during which Vlora’s District Court judges will present him with his initial sentence.

The former head of the Himara police station, Tase, was arrested 3 days ago after the tragic boat incident that took place on the beach of Potami where a 7-year-old girl was hit while sitting on the shore, by the powerful boat being driven by Tase, who claims he lost control of the vessel even though eye-witnesses claim he was carrying out dangerous maneuvers too close to the shore that eventually took the life of the minor.

A day ago, the Prosecutor’s Office of Vlora dismissed the entire investigation carried out by the Agency for Police Supervision against Arjan Tasen, for which it raised the charge of manslaughter.

The city’s prosecution has sent the casefile to Vlora’s District Court and charged Tase with intentional homicide.

Article 76 of the criminal code states that this criminal offense is punishable by imprisonment from 10 to 20 years.

The 7-year-old daughter of the Avdia family lost her life at noon on August 2 in Himara, while on vacation with her family.
