The president elect, Bajram Begaj conducted a meeting earlier this Sunday with former president Alfred Moisiu.

The meeting last an hour and a half and took place in Baldushk, where the former president is currently living in.

When contacted by Euronews Albania, Moisiu said that during the meeting they shared their thoughts on current affairs as well as advice especially from Moisiu to Begaj in terms of his previous experience as head of state.

Moreover, Moisiu said that he gave the new president 2 books as gifts.

Begaj and Moisiu have both been extensively trained in the military.

The new president was elected this weekend in a plenum attended by 83 MPs.

78 MPs voted in Begaj’s favor, 4 votes against and 1 abstained.
