The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of being directly involved in the corrupt affair of the Tirana incinerator.
In a statement to the press from DP’s headquarters, Berisha claimed that Rama is the head of a criminal organization and added that the waste field in Sharra has turned into a gold mine for him and the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
According to him, Rama negotiated and signed a contract in flagrant contradiction with the nation’s laws and procurement practices.
“A detailed, serious, and documented investigation, published yesterday by the Freedom Party, conclusively proves the denunciation that we have made dozens of times in the last two years, that Edi Rama is the head of the criminal organization and that in this particular case, the waste field in Sharra has turned into a gold mine for Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj.
Yesterday, we proved that Edi Rama, for his own private venture, with which he earns tons of euros daily, has lied publicly and under oath. That Edi Rama is the head of the criminal organization of the waste-burning incinerators that are embezzling hundreds of millions of euros, is now a proven fact, in the most irrefutable way, with his signature on the incinerator contract, a contract that was negotiated and signed in flagrant violation of the laws of the land, and procurement practices,” emphasized the chief democrat.
