Attorney and political analyst, Kreshnik Spahiu said that former Prime Minister Sali Berisha will form a new party to run in the next local elections.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that Berisha is now the leader of the Democratic Party, but according to him, the Court of Appeals will declare the December 11 Assembly invalid and the official Democratic Party logo will belong to Enkelejd Alibeaj and the former DP chairman, Lulzim Basha.

Among other things, the attorney pointed out that as a result of the non-grata designation, DP will not be able to enter a coalition with Berisha’s new party.

“What I can say is that Sali Berisha is today a leader of the Democratic Party, but it is not yet known if he will run with the same logo in the upcoming elections. In all likelihood, the Court of Appeals, on the eve of the local elections, will call Mr. Berisha’s Assembly invalid and the logo will belong to another group.

In the local elections, we will have several parties, which means it will be the Socialist Party, the Democratic Party with Alibeaj, and Lulzim Basha, we will have a new party that will be created by Sali Berisha and we will have Ilir Meta’s Freedom Party. Of course, these three could all go into a coalition, if the United States of America did not exist as a global superpower. But there will not be a coalition between the DP and Sali Berisha’s party”, argued Spahiu.
