The Organizational Secretary of the Socialist Party, Blendi Klosi, declared that the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, will be the official candidate of this political force for the capital in the upcoming local elections set to take place on May 14.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Klosi said that the list of 61 candidates for municipalities will be officially announced by the party’s forums in the upcoming weeks.
“There is a statement by the chairman of the party and many leaders or representatives of the leading institutions of the SP, that there is no doubt about the candidacy of Mr. Veliaj, who will officially be on the list of 60 leaders and other representatives, which will soon be officially announced by our forums. We will also continue the process of collecting the opinions of our party members, regarding the decision-making for the high leadership forums and the Party Leadership will ultimately make a decision for the 61 candidates. So far, we haven’t faced any issues in terms of our candidacies”, he emphasized.
