The minister of foreign affairs in Bulgaria, Teodora Genchovska, declared that North Macedonia should register Bulgarians in its Constitution, in order to advance with the EU integration process.

This statement was given by Genchvska earlier today before a press conference that will be held in Sofia, write Radio Bulgaria.

During his visit to Bulgaria, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi will meet with president Rumen Radev and PM Kiril Petkov to discuss the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

Meanwhile, on April 28, Varhelyi will be visiting Albania. In Tirana, Varhelyi will meet with PM Edi Rama.

His visit comes at a time when EU member states are poised to make a decision this June, in regards to holding the first Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) for Albania and North Macedonia.

In his previous statements, PM Rama has said that if Bulgaria doesn’t give up on its veto against North Macedonia, Albania will have to change its approach on the issue of opening negotiations.
