For the first time in the last 13 years, in the April 25th elections, Albanians will be able to vote for the candidates as well as the parties they want to see in parliament. Because of this new opportunity, the leaders of the political parties are being more careful regarding their candidates of choice.

However, Euronews Albania has observed some of the documents submitted by the candidates of the two major parties, and minor problems were identified starting from grammar to the answers given to the 8 questions on the Decriminalization Form.

Gjon Ndoci, the 8th on SP’s lists for Lezha, wrote his birthdate instead of his phone number, whereas another candidate referred to the Albanian parliament with the same name it held during the communist regime.

Halim Dauti, 3rd in SP’s list in Kukes, declared that he was expelled from the UK in 2013, without stating any details regarding the reasons for this expulsion.

In addition, Shyrete Koka, DP’s 3rd on the list for Kukes, has declared that in 2015 she has stayed outside of Albania, for a period longer than a month for the reason of asylum seeking. After not being granted asylum status and be able to start a new life in Germany, Shyrete Koka decided to return to Albania and start her political engagement in the public sphere.
