Chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia, Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petkovic will meet in Brussels today, to discuss a possible solution to the issue of illegal Serbian license plates.

The meeting will be mediated by the European Union envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

This meeting comes just two days after a meeting that didn’t result in a mutual agreement between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, regarding the license plate issue.

The High Representative of the EU for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has laid the blame, especially on the side of Kosovo’s government which is not agreeing to postpone the implementation of the decision to convert all license plates to ones of the Republic of Kosovo (RKS).

At the request of the United States, Kurti postponed this implementation, which includes state-imposed fines, for 48 hours.
