Costs for the construction of the incinerators of Fier and Elbasan have been artificially jacked up by the companies that were contracted to oversee the building process, said journalist Elvi Fundo.
During his interview on ‘Now’ with Erla Mehilli, Fundo accused these companies of fictive price gouging with the intention of raising profits. According to him, the initial contracts for these two incinerators don’t match today’s value which is at least a few million euros more.
“The entire concessionary scheme is built on an initial offer, which comes as a result of a thorough feasibility study. Companies were the ones who conducted the study and the ones who jacked up the costs at the same time. Because the incinerators only cost 15 million euros each whereas the incinerator of Elbasan ended up costing 22 million euros and the one in Fier 28 million,” – said Fundo.
Most importantly, according to Fundo, the company Integrated Technology was granted a contract for the incinerator of Fier, without possessing a single penny in their bank account.
