Today, the Constitutional Court will be examining its final ruling on the Parliament’s request to have president Meta impeached.

The session is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. this morning.

A few days ago, the Constitutional forwarded a total of 70 questions to president Meta, which they expect to have answered by the end of the day.

Last week, the Constitutional Court began the legal proceedings to address the Parliament’s request to impeach Meta on arguments that he breeched the Constitution by openly siding with the Democratic Party during and after the electoral campaign in April 2021.

On February 3, the President submitted paperwork that consisted of 140 pages, where he argued that the legitimacy of the Parliament’s vote on his impeachment, could be disputed, seeing that the Socialist supermajority could be using this as a personal act of revenge.

On June 9, the Parliament voted in favor of Meta’s impeachment with 104 votes in favor. At this point, it will be up to the Constitutional to decide whether or not the president should be impeached.
