Head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, emphasized from the Open Balkan summit in Belgrade that the Balkans, including Albania, are facing a difficult winter, as a result of the energy crisis.
“This winter is likely to be the hardest we have encountered. And we haven’t had any easy winters in the Balkans. Today, as we speak, there are hours of power outages going on in Kosovo. This is a fact. In countries like Britain, France and Germany, plans are being introduced to cut off the energy supply.
These plans include turning off the lights after 10:00 p.m, and they even go as far as closing down all restaurant activity. Same as during the pandemic, with the goal of saving electricity,” Rama said.
In addition, he argued that in the present situation we need patience, support, and cooperation. “We don’t have the opportunity to store the excess rainwater, in periods of heavy rainfall; in the summer, however, we are dependent on imports. We need patience, support, and cooperation”, said Rama.
