Former DP leader and one of the party’s co-founders, Sali Berisha, took it to Facebook to announce his stance following the resignation of Lulzim Basha.

“Bringing Democrats together on a meritocracy basis is DP’s priority”, said Berisha, adding that this can only be achieved through a free and fair process.

“I call on all Democrats, wherever they are, to work together for a more united, stronger and more open Democratic Party”, Berisha wrote on Facebook.

According to Grida Duma, a close ally of Basha throughout the years, Democrats have now a chance to win.

“From this moment, the Democratic Party can start building a project toward a major victory! From this moment, the Democratic  Party and its only shareholders, the Democrats, can release their extraordinary fury”, she said.

After the recent defeat at the polls, Duma became a powerful critic against Basha.
