The branch of the Democratic Party in Durres proposed Luan Hoti as their official candidate for the by-elections.
Hoti confirmed for Euronews Albania that he was the most voted candidate in the branch. Then his name was submitted to the presidency of the Democratic Party.
According to Hoti, other names were also put up for discussion.
Meanwhile, DP’s branch in Rrogozhina proposed to have Ferdinand Saraci run in the by-elections.
Now the decision to formalize the candidates belongs entirely to DP’s presidency and its National Council.
The Democratic Party is heading to the by-elections in two separated factions. Berisha’s grouping will face off the candidates of the DP after joining forces with the Socialist Movement for Integration and the Christian Democratic Party.
The coalition, named “House of Freedom” will compete with the candidates that secured the majority of the votes in the primaries held on Sunday.
Ardian Muka will run under the banner of this coalition in Durres.
