291 denouncements were made by SPAK and other district prosecutions regarding the April 25 elections, but only 2 citizens have been convicted so far.
In a report published by the Centre for Public Information, it says that 115 denouncements of vote-rigging incidents were reported to SPAK, and another 176, to other district prosecutions.
This report also argued that the SPAK has administered around 115 requests for investigation forwarded by political parties and district prosecutions, only 57 of which were taken in for further investigation.
165 reports were made against electoral subjects and 9 citizens, along with 40 police referrals and 18 requests for investigation directed to the president’s office.
The conviction rate for electoral crimes during the 2021 elections was very low according to this report.
Until December 2021, only one criminal case which was investigated by SPAK ended up being processed. It involved the prosecution of 2 public servants at the Diber city hall, who were caught red-handed, in possession of large sums of money and numerous identity cards.
Until the end of 2021, SPAK was able to close the vote-rigging case against Etjon Joka, who ran for Parliament during the April 25, 2021 elections in the county of Tirana.
