The stone city of Gjirokastra remains one of the most unique and sought-after tourist attractions in our country.
This year, dozens of cultural and artistic activities have been held, which have attracted the attention of tourists, mainly from abroad.
The city set in stone is experiencing ‘a gold rush’ this season in terms of tourism. Hundreds of visitors have flocked to the city to visit the various attractions, and cultural activities while also enjoying its characteristic cuisine.
Euronews Albania’s camera crew embarked on a filming expedition in one of the most attractive parts of the city where the high number of foreign tourists was clearly visible.
They told us that they like the Gjirokastrite hospitality as well as the very low prices.
“I come from Holland, I live in Amsterdam and we came to Gjirokaster because we are currently on a tour across Albania. I like it a lot, the climate is very good and the people are super friendly,” said a tourist.
“Oh, the barbers here are also very good, my husband got his hair cut here. The prices are very good, we are very happy with them. We will suggest it to others when we go back to our country,” said another one.
For the director of tourism in the municipality of Gjirokastra, Blerim Kore, the season can be considered successful. What stands out the most is the higher number of foreigners compared to Albanian visitors.
