At noon today, there was a gas leak from the tanks of Porto Romano in Durres. Children who were following their classes in a nearby school have left the premises immediately.
In the meantime, the residents are in a panic, as the smell of gas has spread across the whole area and this is also damaging many of their health.
For Euronews Albania, one of the residents said that he is afraid and that so far, no measures have been taken by authorities even though they’ve expressed their concern on numerous accounts.
“The smell of gas has been coming for at least two weeks, near Spitalla. Today the gas is coming out like a water fountain. I was at work today and the teacher called me and told me to come as soon as possible because we got the students out of school because of the gas. Some of the children were crying out of panic. It is a danger for us, it is a great fear. This is like a ticking bomb, we don’t know when it will explode. Until now, no measures have been taken”, said the resident.
