The Albanian government has opened for public consultation a law on legalizing medical cannabis.
Only one license will be issued to cultivate a maximum of 150 hectares, while greenhouses will be from 5-10 hectares.
The potential candidate to win the license is required to have a background in cultivating medicinal plants, as well as a capital of 100 million Albanian Lek.
In addition, the winning candidate must have 51% of assets in a company that grows products or byproducts of cannabis in an OECD country.
The 15-year term deal is granted with the approval of the government, following a proposal by the Health Ministry.
The competing companies will have to pass through the lenses of the National Agency for Control and Monitoring of Cannabis Plant Cultivation and Processing.
