In tonight’s ‘Shock’ on Euronews Albania, analyst Baton Haxhiu maintained that based on the current numbers that were used to vote for DP’s Leadership, Basha’s initiative to hold the party’s National Assembly makes its convention on December 18, completely legitimate.
According to the analyst, often the party’s leaders and its leadership end up extending their authority beyond their mandates when it comes to making important decisions, which is something that the party’s members have a hard time grasping.
“Basha’s fault is the fact that he has tried to woo the people with a single phrase – about how he had to stab his former Benjamin on the back – at a time when he’s standing against a populist that has been in politics for the past 30 years,” – argued Haxhiu.
According to analyst, Andi Bushati however, Basha’s decision is outdated seeing that he was asked to convene the National Assembly in September and rejected it by saying that he wasn’t willing to convene any ‘anti-American assembly’.
“The problem is that you can’t start to implement a procedure voted by the Leadership after another mechanism has been put to work. What this is, is dodging democratic ways within a party which makes it illegitimate, despite the Leadership’s votes,” – argued Bushati.
