The 6 leaders of the Western Balkans signed three agreements today at the Berlin Process Summit, which are:
- Agreement on free movement with identity cards in the Western Balkans.
- Agreement on the recognition of Higher Education diplomas in the Western Balkans
- Agreement on the recognition of the professional qualifications of doctors, dentists, and architects in the context of the agreement on free trade in Central Europe.
Present at this summit were Prime Minister Edi Rama, Albin Kurti, Dritan Abazovic, Ana Brnabic, Dimitar Kovacevski, and Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
For today’s summit, the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, wrote on Twitter that it felt great to have all the partners of the Western Balkans together in Berlin, a week after her visit to the region.
In addition, she also said that the Berlin Process was being held to deepen economic integration, and that aid would start with energy.
During his opening speech at the summit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is crucially important and necessary in order to have stability in the Western Balkans, among the citizens but also towards the path of integration into the EU.
