Earlier this morning, PM Edi Rama and family members of the 4 protestors – who were shot and killed during a protest that took place on January 21, 2011 – paid their homage in front of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tirana.

They placed bouquets of flowers on the plaques dedicated to the victims at Blvd. ‘Deshmoret e Kombit’.

Several Socialist MPs were also present during the ceremony.

During the January 21 protest, 4 men lost their lives: Aleks Nika, Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj and Hekuran Deda.

This protest was organized by the Socialist Party – which was in opposition at the time – and aimed to overthrow Berisha’s government.

During the protest, tensions escalated and the National Guard stepped in and fired their weapons in the direction of the protestors.

As a result, 4 protestors died and law enforcement has yet to completely solve the mystery of what happened that day.

Family members have ever since been asking for justice to be restored.

PM Rama has also posted a public message this morning, saying that ‘justice may take some time, but it doesn’t forget’.
