After November 2019, the EU took over the responsibility to rebuild 63 schools and 27 cultural objects that were damaged by the earthquake.
In total, the sum equates to €115 million.
Only 2 monuments have now been restored, out of 27 monuments spread across 8 municipalities, respectively the Church of Rubik and the church of Cape of Rodin. The rest are still under an ongoing process.
The fond for cultural monuments is €40 million, mainly for the restoration of museums, fortresses, churches, and mosaics.
The municipality of Durres is the largest recipient of these funds, with 5 cultural monuments in line to be restored.
In the capital, the National Historical Museum and the Theater of the Puppets will benefit from the fond after suffering considerable damage from the November 2019 quake.
The EU donated €75 million for the reconstruction of schools, of these 23 are now ready to welcome students, and 10 are still under reconstruction.
