A few days ago, North Macedonia’s Parliament adopted the French proposal for the resolution of the dispute with Bulgaria, which enabled today’s official start of accession talks with the EU.

At this point, the rights of Bulgarians living in North Macedonia will have to be included in the Constitution.

In an interview for Euronews Albania from Brussels, the Macedonian Minister of Information and Administration, Admirim Aliti, said that these constitutional changes will be taking place within the next 2 years.

In addition, he said that the only part that will change is the preamble, where it will be emphasized that apart from the Macedonians and Albanians, there are also other nationalities like the Bulgarians, who live in North Macedonia.

“According to our plans, we should be able to complete these constitutional changes within the next 2 years, and we hope that until then, all political factors will be convinced that this is the best thing for North Macedonia and we hope that we won’t face any opposition about these constitutional changes. According to plans, the preamble will be changed to include the fact that our constitution, confirms that apart from Macedonians and Albanians, there are also other nationalities who live in North Macedonia,” – said Aliti.
