The district court of Vlora has ordered the arrest and imprisonment of the former officer Arjan Tase.
The prosecution demanded a prison sentence for the police officer who killed a 7-year-old girl on the beach of Potam in Himara, with the speedboat he was driving.
The charge that has been brought against Tase is that of indirect intentional homicide.
According to the criminal code, ‘intent’ comes in 2 forms: Direct intent, is when the author wants his crime’s consequences, foresees them, and consciously allows their doing; indirect intent on the other hand, is when the author does not want a criminal consequence but foresees it and consciously allows the consequence to occur.
With the new charge filed by the prosecuting body, Tase risks 10-20 years in prison.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Vlora changed the charge of manslaughter, which the Agency for Police Supervision had referred, raising that of intentional homicide.
