The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Svecla, stated that there is a mobilization of the Serbian army and gendarmerie, but he believes that there will be no intervention in the north of the country.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Svecla underlined that if something like this happens, Kosovo has its own institutions that are ready to protect the sovereignty and help the country.

Svecla also added that Kosovo has the continuous support of the EU and the US.

“Serbian nationalist rhetoric, in relation to Kosovo as well, has not changed since the 80s and 90s, it has recently intensified. The poisonous rhetoric, through which Vucic tries to justify his actions and draw the attention of the population of Serbia away from their problems. There is a mobilization of the army, there is also a mobilization of the gendarmerie and the police, this makes us more careful and alert, but not afraid.

Kosovo is independent, it has its own institutions that are ready to protect both the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Kosovo. I am convinced that there is no question of any incursion of the Serbian army or police in Kosovo. But we are ready to stand up for our country. We have the continuous support of the EU and the USA”, he emphasized.
