The head of SPAK, Arben Kraja, in an exclusive interview for Euronews Albania, spoke about the security measures against former minister Lefter Koka and former deputy Alqi Blako, who are currently behind bars, as they are suspected of being involved in the incinerator affair.

Kraja stated that different security measures can be issued for a person under different circumstances.

“There are two criminal proceedings that are currently being investigated, one is related to the Elbasan incinerator, the other to the one in Fier. Each of the prosecutors has evaluated the evidence that he has been assigned to investigate. For one person, two different security measures can be issued under very different circumstances” – said Kraja.

Among other things, he emphasized that Bllako and Koka are innocent until proven guilty or until the final court ruling is given. Kraja also added that if they are found not guilty, the two will be reimbursed for the time they have served in prison.

“We have asked for this security measure, but we have the obligation to consider them innocent until the final decision is given in court. A security measure can be appealed. There are several levels of the judiciary that evaluate these measures. I know that Gelci has been found guilty. The law stipulates that if the Court finally gives a decision and declares him innocent, he has the right to request reimbursement for all the time he has served in prison” he emphasized.
