Kosovo will apply this year for membership in the European Union, declared on Tuesday prime Minister Albin Kurti from the podium of the parliament.

He said that Kosovo will also apply to other international organizations, such as the Council of Europe.

“We have started preparations for membership in international organizations. We have already announced that this year we will apply for EU membership. Everyone should have the right to appeal their case to international courts, so it becomes natural to apply in the Council of Europe as well “, said Kurti.

According to him, security is a key issue for Kosovo, adding that one of the most important tasks of the government is rapprochement with NATO.

Among other things, the head of the executive said that the campaign launched by Serbia seeking other countries to withdraw their recognition of Kosovo has not been successful.
