Sources from Kosovo’s ministry of foreign affairs and the diaspora have confirmed that the application is ready and that it will be submitted soon – possibly, by Thursday.

The possibility of Kosovo applying for membership in the European Council was mentioned this Wednesday by the Serbian president Alexander Vucic, who added that by doing this, Kosovo is violating the Brussels Agreement and the Washington Agreement.

Before the informal dinner organized by the Chief of Diplomacy at the EU, Josep Borrell, on May 11, Vucic said that “it is clear that some people are working to destabilize the entire region and Serbia”.

The European Council is an international organisation focused on human rights and democracy, as well as the rule of law in Europe. Its headquarters are in Strasbourg.

Since the invasion of Ukraine back in February, Kosovo has announced that it will apply to become a member of various international organisation as a precatiounary measure for the country’s security.
