In order to allow ethnic Serbs living in Kosovo to participate in Serbia’s elections, there needs to be an agreement beforehand, between governments of both countries.
This is what Kosovo’s PM Albin Kurti said during a virtual meeting with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives in Kosovo.
Kosovo’s PM also told the diplomatic troupe that “we don’t want to take away our dual-citizenship citizens’ right to vote, but at the same time, we can’t act in contradiction with our country’s legislation and constitutionality”.
Kurti has been having an ongoing interaction with representatives of quint states.
Serbian president Alexandar Vucic said on Monday during a pre-electoral activity that the “Kurti administration wants Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence in exchange for allowing these elections to take place in Kosovo as well”.
On January 15, Kosovo’s Parliament adopted a resolution through which voting in a foreign election was rendered impossible.
Quint member states and the EU didn’t receive this decision well.
2 months later, on March 15, Kurti said that he is working on finding a solution for Serbs in Kosovo.
