After more than two hours, the national protest of the opposition in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, called by the Democratic Party, has ended.
There were 20 speakers at the protest, among them the chief democrat, Sali Berisha, and the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta. Both leaders accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of depopulating the country, the economic situation and corruption.
Berisha made Prime Minister Edi Rama responsible for the departure of Albanians from the country.
“We gather here today at a time when, just like 32 years ago, the world sees us as raft people. So let’s stop for a moment, why today, after 32 years, we again became the people of the rafts. Is Albania to blame? No, never ever. There is no richer country than this country, but Albanians today are a people of rafts, because someone, and this someone is Edi Rama, robbed them of their vote, robbed them of their vote, turned their freedoms into an illusion, into a fictitious vote, only so he can stay in power”, emphasized the chief democrat.
He told internationals not to support Rama’s regime.
“Today, I appeal to you: do not support the regime of Edi Rama, because Edi Rama is an enemy of the free vote of Albanians. Any support for him is a failure for Albanians. As from this square, I must declare to you that Albania will never have stability without the free vote of the Albanians. Stability and vote, stability and trust, stability and the future, will be inseparable”, was his call.
Meanwhile, Meta described Prime Minister Rama as a traitor, who, according to him, works against the interests of the country.
“Today the traitor follows this rally of victory, of triumph, of democracy, from the luxurious and illegal charter. Very soon he will be brought to justice according to his own laws, according to the signatures he himself made. You are the one who has the right to hold the government accountable. You are the one who has the right to oust the government, when its leaders rob, steal and sell land, as Rama and Rilindja do”, were the words of Meta, among others.
