Montenegro Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic participated on Wednesday at the Open Balkan Summit held in Ohrid, North Macedonia.

However, Abazovic didn’t declare whether Montenegro will join the regional initiative, but only attended under the role of the observer.

Journalist Ilmira Leka told Good Morning that most of the prime minister’s allies are against Open Balkan and that Abazovic won’t be able to secure a ‘yes’ vote in parliament.

“The other allies of Abazovic, pro-Montenegrin parties are against this initiative. Abazovic won’t have the support of the majority in parliament”, she claimed.

According to Leka, only the pro-Serbian opposition parties endorse the Open Balkan, adding that Serbia is the main beneficiary of this initiative.

Albania, Serbia, and North Macedonia are the only members of the Open Balkan, while in the recent summit Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina joined as observers.
