A new border crossing between Albania and Kosovo has been inaugurated in Shishtavec-Krusheve.
This new checkpoint was established after both governments signed a joint deal back in November 2021.
The Albanian interior minister Bledi Cuci and his Kosovo homolog Xhelal Svecla met today during an inauguration ceremony at this border crossing, which will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
During his remarks, Cuci said that the opening of this border crossing will help both countries while also contributing to further strengthening the touristic potential in this area.
On the other hand, Svecla said that it will serve as a testimony of the willpower of both governments in Tirana and Prishtina to overcome barriers and make citizens’ lives easier.
In addition, both leaders mentioned that the other stage of the joint agreement, will be to finalize the free movement of citizens from both sides of the border.
