The leaders of the main political parties in North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev and Hristijan Mickoski, came into an agreement to postpone the census till September.
The request was first made by VMRO-DPMNE.
The reason behind this, according to the party leaders, is that the country will have secured enough vaccine doses by then in order to vaccinate the staff involved in the process, particularly those working on the ground, but also the general population, rendering the whole process safer.
Additionally, they also agreed to change the date of local elections to be held in the last two weeks of October.
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev announced that he came to terms with the leader of the opposition in agreeing on several important laws in Parliament.
