Albanian writer Vera Bekteshi has won the literary award ‘Kadare’ for her novel ‘Yellow Note’.

In this book, Bekteshi chose the subject of refusal to change as her main theme, by bringing people with disabilities into the center of her narration.

This was the seventh edition of the Kadare Award ceremony, described by the dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Liberal Arts at UET and jury member of the Kadare Award 2022, Belina Budini, as an “alliance of women”.

Voting in this edition, said Budini, was unanimous, while adding that this year, the domination of women is a discernible factor.

The Kadare Award is an important annual event for the literature scene in Albania and Bekteshi has now become the first woman to be awarded this prize since 2015.
