648 illegal emigrants were caught in Gjirokaster over the past 2 weeks.
This number has been on the rise compared to the same period last year, when 311 emigrants were caught.
Meanwhile, 26 citizens were arrested and 7 are on the run, for aiding foreign nationals to cross the border illegally.
Operations to catch illegal migrants have been conducted by FRONTEX in collaboration with the Albania Police.
