Albanian President Ilir Meta urged an investigation into one of the members of the Constitutional Court.
President Meta accuses Fiona Papajorgji of committing “serious professional and ethical violations” during the assessment of the local election held on 30 June 2019.
In addition, Meta claimed that there were no draws when choosing the rapporteur on the case and that there were violations of the procedures.
The head of state also noted that the Venice Commission has not been considered.
Meta suggested that the investigation to be carried by the Special Appellate College may reveal other violations as well.
In December, the Constitutional Court overturned a request seeking to render the last local elections as unconstitutional, as the request posed by the Albanian Association of Municipalities is illegitimate and has no right in putting to motion this court.
