Rising electricity bills led hundreds of citizens to join the call for protest on Saturday.
The Social Democratic Party of Kosovo announced the protest on Friday on Facebook with the caption “We are ready, now it’s the government’s turn to be ready”
Protesters are also calling on prime minister Albin Kurti to step down amid chants calling him a liar.

As they marched toward the Prime Ministry, protesters met police resistance.
The organizers of the protest reportedly demanded to hold a speech in front at the front stairs of the Prime Ministry.

On Monday, the parliament of Kosovo convened in an extraordinary session to discuss surging energy prices.
Earlier on, Prime Minister Albin Kurti told opposition MPs that the problem cannot be solved in ten months.
“I have not said that the energy price will go down on the day I become prime minister, but in the past, there have been some tariff incentives which increased the price of electricity. We can’t do in ten months, what you didn’t do in 20 years”, said Kurti.
