This Sunday, the second meeting between the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between North Macedonia and Bulgaria took place in Sofia.
At the end of the meeting, a protocol between foreign ministers of both countries – Bujar Osmani and Teodora Gencovska – was signed.
This protocol includes an official record of the Commission’s meeting that will facilitate a mutual commitment toward the promotion of bilateral relations.
Minister Osmani said that during the meeting, the parties discussed all the activities and projects that were made possible by the workgroups.
In addition, he also emphasized that North Macedonia has received strong support for the country’s European integration.
In the upcoming days, the first Intergovernmental Conference is expected to take place in Brussels, which is the first important step toward EU membership.
Macedonian MPs adopted the French proposal this Saturday, thus enabling the opening of accession negotiations with the European Union.
The proposal received 68 votes in favor, whereas opposition MPs abstained.
The latter has announced yet another protest against the adoption of the proposal calling it a threat to their national identity and language.
