Psychologist Nereida Llaha said during her interview for Euronews Albania that there are 2 categories of teens who are more predisposed to consume narcotics.
According to Llaha, the first group includes “teens that come from households that expose them to vulnerable family dynamics”, whereas the second includes “children that come from families with an above-average social and economic status”.
In addition, she explained that during her daily job, she decided to talk to specific students, after noticing certain “suspicious behaviors”.
“My doubts begin with students who present issues with their behavior, which is then reflected in their academic achievements and their attendance,” – said Llaha.
The psychologist also noted that even though there could be definite signs of drug consumption from her students, “intervention from school staff isn’t as easy because there are certain steps that need to be followed”.
“The first thing we need to do is consult their head teacher. If we are convinced of our suspicions, then we must contact their parents and get their approval before taking in the student for consultation,” – said the psychologist.
However, Llaha stated that in the majority of cases, students refuse and resist consulting with a specialist.
