PM Edi Rama isn’t optimistic when it comes to Bulgaria lifting its veto on North Macedonia, which would help Albania as well when it comes to opening up negotiations.

When asked by Euronews Albania, Rama said that our country will be changing it stands, in the case that Bulgaria decides to keep blocking the process.

Rama also stated that he has made this very clear to the German chancellor Olaf Scholz in a meeting they had yesterday, during which he also informed him on the general sentiment shared by most Albanian citizens in the National Consultation Survey.

“I simply notified the German Chancellor about that fact that we will have another approach altogether that will remain unchanged until the next meeting of the European Council this June – but if we get blocked once against by Bulgaria, based on the extensive support that our decoupling from North Macedonia has receiving amongst the general public in Albania – we will definitely change our approach and speak a different language when it comes to Albania and Albania’s need to decouple from North Macedonia,” – said the head of government.
