Chair of the Movement for National Development (LZHK), Dashamir Shehi, said on tonight’s ‘Now’ with Erla Mehilli that the very reason for the creation of the Democratic Party was to turn us away from communism and this was accomplished, but DP has failed in producing democracy.
According to Shehi, in Albania, there are no ‘left’ or ‘right’ wing supporters because the majority identify themselves with whoever is in power, because even capitalists in our country, come from the left.
Shehi was also critical, however, of the actions maintained by right-wing administrations in Albania, saying that they have governed through ‘Leninist’ policies, referring to the law on the division of private property during the 90s.
According to Shehi, there needs to be a right-wing group that gets together with DP because at this point, in order to defeat Edi Rama, they need help from the progressive left as well.
“To defeat Edi Rama, there needs to be a Grand Opposition Arch. This has been my idea for years now, especially after [the opposition] lost the April 25 elections,” – said LZHK’s leader.
