As citizens gathered in their 8th protest against price hikes in Tirana, PM Rama held a meeting with farmers during which he presented his Social Resistance Package.

In addition, he said that farmers will be offered an extra 500 million ALL or 4.1 million euros in subsidies, which comes up to a total of 1.45 billion ALL.

In addition, Rama warned of an oncoming energy crisis in the next several months due to a lack of rainfall in our country.

As a result, according to Rama, we will be forced to buy energy in the global exchange market for a much higher price.

PM Rama also laid down his rationalization of the reason why he doesn’t agree to lift the oil tax.

“Who does the oil tax burden the most? Those who drive and own a car. And those who own a car, have more money than those who don’t. We are subsidizing the transit system so bus tickets don’t go up. Farmers do take a hit. That’s true. And that’s why we’re offering farmers a dedicated fund,” – said Rama.
