The Russian Embassy in Tirana, through a press release, clarified the reasons for its move from the residence in the center of Tirana, near the street that was retitled in March with the name “Free Ukraine”.
Through an announcement, the Russian embassy considers as unreliable the news published in the Albanian press that there was any link between the relocation of the embassy to a new building due to the renaming of the street.
According to the embassy, the new embassy building was opened in the presence of the press as early as September 2019, but the full relocation was only realized in June 2022 due to a delay in construction work due to the pandemic.
“At the same time, the Albanian MEPJ was sent an official notification about the relocation of the Embassy office and the new address was published on social media.
We would like that from now on, before publishing information related to the work of our diplomatic mission, journalists should directly contact the representatives of the Embassy for reliable information”, the embassy announcement reads.
