Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated that Lulzim Basha had told him that the lobbying for this political force in the USA in 2017 was done with the money collected according to the rules and through funding from the diaspora, denying that he had received any Russian funding.
In a statement for the press from DP’s headquarters, Berisha said that he initially believed Basha’s version, but was later informed that he was being held hostage because of this issue.
“Lulzim Basha was asked by me about what stood behind this article, after which he told me that the money paid to Nick Muzin was collected in accordance with the rules from the Albanian diaspora living in the US and that the article had no truth in it. Between the article and Basha’s explanation, I believed the version of the latter.
Later, however, I was made aware of the fact that Basha was being held hostage and that the case against him was closed in court, with Agaci’s intervention, where the prosecutor, breaking the law, did not appeal the case to the Supreme Court. I have denounced this act from pulpit to pulpit. Later, I was informed that Basha had lied and that he had not in fact, collected funds in the diaspora,” claimed the head of Democrats.
