On July 25, the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) is holding a National Convention and expecting Ilir Meta’s return after 5 years of him serving as president.
SMI’s Secretary General, Endrit Braimllari stated that Meta’s return isn’t only a necessity for SMI, but for the country’s opposition as well.
“The country is in dire need of Ilir Meta’s opposition. SMI needs his energy and determination, as well as his political clarity. Today, it is very necessary to have a party that has clarity in its stances and a party that can keep an ongoing rapport with citizens,” – said Braimllari.
According to him, Meta’s return will be succeeded by the reorganization process for SMI.
“We need new energy and a new dimension that isn’t only political but one that also affects SMI’s structures, from the base to the center. SMI is always producing innovation and political action, and we will undergo a process of reorganization from within that will be succeeded by an election on all levels and district branches,” – he added.
After Meta’s return to the SMI, it will be more evident whether he will choose to continue collaborating with Sali Berisha and the Democratic Party or not.
