The Socialist Party won’t expel Ornaldo Rakipi from its parliamentary group after declaring that responsibility is personal.
After SP’s meeting, several MPs told Euronews Albania journalist Eksiola Shehu, that Rakipi will continue serving his mandate, despite the fact that the US has undertaken sanctions against his father.
“If there is one thing that makes our political family stand out from others is that we have never used doubled standards. Our stance has always been the same in so far as we respect the decisions made by the United States, our strategic ally,” – said Balla.
The head of SP’s parliamentary group continued by saying that SP supports the decision made by the United States on Aqif Rakipi, but that his son doesn’t have to answer for his father’s wrongdoings.
Former PDIU MP, Aqif Rakipi, is amongst 7 other citizens from the Western Balkans who has been declared non-grata.
