Albanians today do not like any of the political figures in their country.

When asked by Euronews Albania’s Barometer, 56% of them expressed a negative opinion about Prime Minister Edi Rama, while 40.6% had a positive opinion.

The negative sentiment increases even more when they’re asked about the country’s political opposition, as 71.5% of Albanians have a negative opinion of the head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha. While only 26.2% of those questioned had a positive opinion.

The least liked figure was the chair of the Freedom Party – formerly known as the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) Ilir Meta, with 90.7% of those questioned rating him negatively. Only 6.7% shared a positive assessment.

The former DP chair, Lulzim Basha, was also part of the list, with 83.5% of respondents giving him a negative rating and only 14% evaluating him positively.

Basha was followed by Democratic MP, Enkelejd Alibeaj, who held the leadership of DP for a short period of time, with 73.6% of respondents sharing a negative opinion about him and only 17.7% giving him a positive rating.

The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj was evaluated negatively by 60.4% of respondents whilst 33.9% evaluated him positively.

Sentiment for the country’s president, Bajram Begaj, was neither negative nor positive, as 39.7% of those questioned don’t feel that they have gotten the complete picture yet and couldn’t provide an answer just yet, whereas 34.6% evaluated him negatively. 25.7% described the new president as a positive political figure.

Compared to 1.5 years ago, the prime minister scored the lowest approval rating this September with 40.6%, seeing that his best month was June 2021 when he scored 52.4%.

As for the chair of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, the worst month was January 2022 with 21.2%, while the best month was this year with a 28.5% approval rating.

Meanwhile, the assessment for the current government is 45.8% negative and 24.4% positive.

But the opposition, DP and FP, received an even worst assessment from respondents, where 66.3% gave them a negative rating and only 8.3% assessed them positively.
