On Monday afternoon, Parliament will be debating for close to 4 hours in a special session on the administrative division of the country.

The ruling majority and the opposition will be leading this session with two separate reports, where socialists are demanding that the territorial division with 61 municipalities from back in 2014 be preserved, while the democrats demand their addition, with 94 municipalities.

The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, stated that the final decision will be made at the meeting of the Socialist Group on Monday morning.

“It is true that we’ve communicated about this, but in the end each of the Parliamentary Groups will express themselves and we will have a communication with you on Monday after the meeting of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party to give our final decision on this matter”.

Sources indicate that during this week the two leaders of the largest parliamentary groups met to find an agreement.

But Euronews Albania has learned that the socialist majority will not withdraw from the report presented earlier not to add any municipalities, despite the insistence of the democrats.
