The construction of the Milot-Fier road will cost 837 million euros.
The existing Milot-Thumane road, 13.5 kilometers long, will be rehabilitated to fit a high-speed axis. The reconstruction will cost 44.6 million euros.
The highway will then connect with the Thumanë-Kashar road, concession contract which was signed 2 months ago and the passage of vehicles there will cost 2.5 euros.
Another concession contract is the one for the Kashar-Pezë-Lekaj axis, 33.6 kilometers of new road, which will cost 474.8 million euros.
The segment will end with the Lekaj-Konjat-Fier road. 42.2 kilometers of this axis will be rehabilitated at a cost of 317.6 million euros.
The road construction bill will be borne by the company that will win the tender, which will then set tolls for the passage of vehicles, while the state budget will cover part of the traffic if the flow of vehicles is not according to the tender scenario.
The value of the fee and the amount of flow that the budget will guarantee will be the determinants of the selection of the winner in this competition.
Albania tried to concession the entire Milot-Fier axis in 2020 for a construction value of 1.18 billion euros, but the tender was canceled after the participating company pledged to complete the work in 5 years.
In the tender documents, the government requires that the entire work be completed within 3 and a half years, while the fee for the road from the concessionaires will be levied until the 35th year of the contract, after which the segment will be transferred to the state.
